    It was totally awesome! I was also very lucky. The cliffs work best in a NW which is not a common wind direction. Some people go regularly for years and dont get the right conditions to fly famara.

    Yes its Smeatharpe Upottery Tow group. We used to have a Koch winch here but we all sold our shares to Paraglider pilots when we started aerotowing, its a shame as they dont use it and as you know its a great and cheap way of getting airtime.

    Phil Hello all, my wife and I plan to do a road trip in June down through the east side of France into Italy and then back up through Switzaland, Germany and maybe Belgium before returning to the uk and Somerset. Does anyone have any suggestions of flying sites I should take in on our route. And any contacts or pointers greatly appreciated.

      JMcB Hey Phil, I got a book this year 'Best Flying Sites of the Alps' by Oliver Guenay which covers sites in France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Slovenia. Check out his website - Bestflyingsites.com. The book very well presented. He covers access to the sites, local weather conditions, flying, cross country, landing, accommodation, other activities in the area for families, meeting other pilots & loads of pictures of the sites. Just reading the book makes me think it suits your plans perfectly and a good guidebook to take on the trip. However, the book doesn’t cover any sites on the east coast of France. The only site I’ve heard much of in the East is ‘dunes du pilat’. Ideal if you fancy some Dune gooning.

      John C Passed through on gread day but unfortunately without glider. very well organised - lovely ramps, big dispays signs showing airspace etc and close by car parking exclusivly for HGs! Don't know anyone who's actually flown there. I'l see if I can russle up my notes and PM you . (Especially if you remind me).
