We all learn by our mistakes, let just hope they are low down and not to fast. i.e. downwind. so none of us gets hurt, well not seriously. One of the good things with the tow is the amount of landings you do. I must average 5-6 each time I'm out. ...

Well done Ken, I suppose you will be on the downs every northerly day? Look for ward to seeing you there in the summer. I have not been back that way since I have passed, due mainly to the wind. It will be great to fly there properly now I have a ...

Love the commentary especially when you realized that you were running short, glad you were not hurt though, Finnished my CP now so hopefully will catch up on a hill soon.

Yes it was a nice soft hedge, no damage to me or the glider, I was so sure I would easily make the landing field, had loads of height, I just bubbled across. As you have said Carole if I had stayed more forward still in lifting air I would have been ...

Some? I was working up to a shed-load. Definately this was a case where local knowledge would have helped a lot. Darren was just a bit early on drifting backwards and it seems to me he got into descending air. I suspect that the hedge wasn't a ...

Nice one! It is surprising how fast you loose height in that field on our class of gliders.I always find myself landing further back than I intended. I think you did exactly the right thing, a low altitude greater than 180 degree slow turn to land ...

Steve W Did you get to fly Famara? How did it go with the thermals?

Rocket It was quite windy Steve and a lot of our flying was done at El Cichillo but we did have 2 flights at Famara. The fist was very short due to having to borrow someone elses gliders as the one I had hired was let just say not something I was going to fly. The second time I got good height and nearly jumped the gap but with the wind off a bit to the west, thought coming back was going to be an issue. Really good would go again but will take my own glider in future.

Steve W I've heard about the hire gliders over there from a very experienced and reputable source (not JB in this case but someone else). I would love to go but would definitely want my own glider. Looking for a flying holiday where I can take the Mrs and she can sit by the pool all day. Who did you go with?

Rocket 6 other lads from my club, 2 of them stayed else where with there families and 4 of us stayed together. We all have different levels of experience and at my level I want everything to look right which allows me to have confidence in the kit I am using it may be perfectly fine to another more experienced person?. The missus should like it there nice and warm lots of sunshine all year round.
